Seascape, dating in 1877.

Johann W. Hunten was an important marine painter based in Hamburg.

The artist, who was very educated, won a scholarship at the renowned Düsseldorf Art Academy.
The works of Franz Johann Wilhelm Hünten are exhibited in many museums highlighting its importance in seascapes painting, some examples are the Hamburger Kunsthalle and the National Gallery in Berlin.
